SHU High School Honor Band Clinic 2015 February 13-14th, 2015

The SHU Honor Band Clinic is an opportunity for talented high school musicians to come together and prepare high quality music. All high school seniors who audition will be able to count their audition as a scholarship audition and will be offered a band scholarship. All participating seniors will qualify for a band scholarship at Siena Heights University. All students who audition make the clinic. Auditions are for part placement only. There is no charge to participate.

Audition at Siena Heights:
November 29     1:00-3:00 PM
December 6       1:00-3:00 PM
January 9         1:00-3:00 PM
January 17      1:00-3:00 PM
January 31      1:00-3:00 PM
February 6      By appointment

Online Auditions:
Students may send in a video of themselves auditioning via Youtube. Students will need to film themselves playing all of the required music. Youtube audition videos are due by January 31, 2015.

Audition Material:
Scales (Woodwind, brass, mallet percussion):
Two scales of your choice.
Full-range chromatic scale
Prepared music (found online)
   • Choose two selections
Percussion: Rudiments: paradiddle, flams, open and closed rolls.

2015 Clinician:
Elva Kaye Lance
Director of Bands at Mississippi State University
Elva Kaye Lance is currently the Director of Bands at Mississippi State University. Her current responsibilities include conducting the Wind Ensemble, providing leadership for the Famous Maroon Band and administering all aspects of the band program. In 2011, she received the Edythe M. McArthur Outstanding Woman Band Director Award for the state of Mississippi. She serves as the state chair for the College Band Director’s National Association and the National Band Association.
