The Acapelicans are Siena Heights University's premiere co-ed a cappella group. They perform around campus and the Southeastern Michigan / Northwestern Ohio area.
The Acapelicans were founded in January 2008, made up of mostly theatre majors. The group has undergone many changes over the years including a name change (to 'Veritas', latin for 'Truth') and then another name change back to Acapelicans. The group rehearses three days a week and holds auditions at least twice a year. Although the group is not strictly for theatre majors, 85% of the group is usually made up of theatre or musical theatre majors. The group is governed by four officers (elected within the group) and a constitution of regulations and bylaws. The Acapelicans strive to push the boundaries of contemporary a cappella and bring pride to their school and community.
The Acapelicans hold open auditions at the beginning of fall semester and the end of winter semester, in September and April. On occasion, they hold auditions in January depending on the needs of the group. Look for auditions postings around campus, their Facebook page and also their Twitter.
